Chamaepinnularia salina (Bacillariophyta), a new diatom species from French mineral springs (Massif Central)

During a survey done on the mineral springs in French Massif Central region, new Chamaepinnularia species (Bacillariophyceae) was found and is hereby described: salina Beauger, C.E.Wetzel, Allain & Ector sp. nov. This small species, with valves linear almost parallel margins, formally described using light scanning electron microscopy. The central area rectangular, forming rather broad fascia raphe straight, filiform located an elevated sternum. Virgae between striae are developed. ecological preferences of presented. mainly Na-K-HCO3 water type.
